Trip down South

Went for a trip down south to Melaka with the band recently, for the Asia Pacific Rotary Leadership Conference, we were the opening act, and I really have to say the crowd were mind blowingly mad!!

The trip was a fun filled, musical agenda for all of us, from the traditional wayang kulit to classical indian vocals, to bhangra to r n b... to the whole caboodle.... and not forgetting the fact that we had the prime entertainer of the Sikh panth, mr. tashie himself, keeping us in giggles and and gaggles the whole way with his jokes, and mad-cap antics....

It was madness right from the start when we did the escort of the VVIP's, which included a very very snobbish bhai fella (who i would have whacked, but didnt dare cause he's turban had so much of kanji/starch on it that going at it with a jack hammer would amount to nothing!!), and the grand chancellor of rotary movement, this old dude from Portugal!!

Anyways, the crowd went ape when they heard the Dhol, Djembe and Surdo play the intro beat and were screaming their heads off throught out our journey from the main entrance to the VIP area. And the flashing lights thast went off nearly blinded us!!

Next up, we played over our newly recorded single, Diplomat Express much to the enjoyment of the crowd!! I must say there was this stunning Indonesian girl that went gaga everytime I blew the Samba Tri-Tone whislte! She would scream and jump about everytime she heard the whislte and smile at me and waited till i responded!!

To sum it up, we rocked the stage, the girls went wild when Sethi sang the intro from Kailash Kher's Teri Diwani and the whole room was just so receptive to our performance! Great job Diplomats! haha...
